The Hofstatt vineyard is located in the district of the same name in Kurtatsch, at an altitude of 500 - 650 m above sea level above the village center. The steep vineyards on calcareous subsoil with a high clay content and the great temperature differences between day and night form an ideal environment for the cultivation of Pinot Blanc. And this rich mineral structure shapes the Pinot Blanc 'Hofstatt' into an exceptional white regional wine. - Gerardo [TS07/23] Gerardo's Notes: From its native Burgundy, the first Pinot Blanc arrived in South Tyrol 150 years ago, where the delicate variety quickly spread throughout the winegrowing region. The hamlet of Hofstatt is located southwest above the village of Kurtatsch at an altitude of 620 meters above sea level. Cooling evening fall winds provide an ideal, fresh and airy microclimate. Only three generations ago, the vineyards were dug up to one meter deep year after year. In the process, large stones were removed and used for house construction or dry stone walls. Granite, slate, porphyry: the walls of the oldest houses in the Hofstatt are like an exact geological image of the soil. And this rich mineral structure shapes the Pinot Blanc 'Hofstatt' into an exceptional white regional wine. In its youth it is still wild. Once it has reached the stage of maturity for drinking, it delights with filigree mountain apple fruit and lemon balm. The aromatic bouquet is unobtrusive, reminiscent of the delicate scent of flowers sprouting from rock crevices above the tree line. A careful passage of wood gives the wine a supple texture, which enters into a harmonious liaison with the unbroken fresh acid structure.
